ConsultMentor is an AI-powered platform designed to help GP registrars improve their consultation skills through real-time, interactive case-based scenarios. You consult with a lifelike AI patient by voice, then receive detailed feedback based on the SCA (Simulated Consultation Assessment) domains: data gathering, clinical management, and relating to others.

ConsultMentor is designed for any person training to consult in General Practice. We believe that excellent consultation skills should be developed from the very first year of training, not just when preparing for exams. Our programme supports the entire journey from ST1 through CCT and beyond.

Absolutely not! While we support trainees preparing for SCA resits, ConsultMentor is designed for all GP trainees at any stage. Many of our most successful users are ST1–ST3 trainees who want to build excellence from the start.

Written case banks test what you would say. ConsultMentor tests what you actually say. You speak your consultation aloud to an AI patient who responds in real time — exactly as you will in the exam. Reading a case and consulting through a case are different skills, and the SCA assesses the second one.

The AI analyses your consultation using natural language processing and clinical algorithms developed by experienced GPs. It evaluates your spoken responses across the key SCA domains. You receive colour-coded scores and personalised feedback highlighting your strengths and areas for improvement.

Yes, feedback is provided after each consultation is completed by clicking the Analyse button. Feedback can take some time to be shown as the AI analysis is complex.

We believe our feedback complements and often exceeds the usual feedback trainees receive. Your consultation is comprehensively broken down with specific suggestions for every case. The AI provides detailed, objective assessment across all SCA domains.

Yes. ConsultMentor analyses your performance across all completed cases, identifying patterns in your consulting over time. You can download this as a Learning Progress Report — a PDF designed to share with your Educational Supervisor or trainer to make your development conversations more focused.

ConsultMentor uses voice-based interaction to simulate real consultations. Conversations are turn-based, this allows both parties to speak without unintended interruptions. All cases follow a remote consultation format, matching how the SCA itself is delivered.

One complete course with everything included: 140 voice-based consultation cases, 3 full attempts at every case, detailed AI feedback on each consultation, cross-case analysis of your progress with a downloadable Learning Progress Report, and a certificate of completion. Access lasts 6 months from activation.

Trainees have successfully claimed ConsultMentor through their study budget as an SCA preparation and consultation skills resource. Study budget rules vary by deanery, so please check with your Educational Supervisor, TPD or programme administrator for local approval. We provide a receipt suitable for study budget claims, and a certificate on completion.

ConsultMentor works best on modern smartphones (but will work on your Laptop/Desktop). Use Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. You’ll need stable internet and a working microphone. There is nothing to install — everything runs in your browser.

Your voice recordings are not kept — audio is processed to generate your feedback and then deleted. What stays in your dashboard is the feedback itself, which reflects back what you said in the consultation and how to improve, so you can review it and track your progress throughout your access period. Yes. We comply with UK data protection laws (GDPR). Consultation data is encrypted in transit and handled confidentially using industry-standard security measures.
